So it, it, ethics and ethical conduct spans all kinds of disciplines. But mostly it’s, it’s undergraduate research is mostly with human participants. So that’s kind of the, you know, the one I talk about probably the most, but I like to answer questions for it and make sure that people understand that it’s not just humans. You have to respect your participants, all the things that you do when you’re doing research. It just, but you still have to think about the integrity and the and the and the ethical rules and responsibilities that you have as a researcher. To do no harm is probably one of the biggest things. That’s, it’s in the Hippocratic oath for doctors; it’s in the oath for a researcher to do no harm. And our REB at TRU our Research Ethics Board, REB board and animal care at birth. Feel yay, yes, Do no harm. But the other underlying factor that’s really big at TRU is to disseminate that information and share the information. Because we don’t do research for nothing. And we, and people aren’t doing you’re not doing it just for yourself. So I can never approach someone and say I’m doing research project and would you help me in and I want to get an A I’m doing this because I want to get an A. No, you’re doing it because you’re going to share that information back. Because really that’s what’s important. It’s doing the research you do for a reason. And that reason is to be, to help and better a situation or add to the knowledge of a particular subject. So sharing that information back is, in our estimation and certainly in mine, probably one of the biggest things to think about as well when you’re doing research is you’re not just doing it. I’ve had students say, well, I typed up, I’ve got this project and I want to get an E. Well, sure you do, but go beyond that. We hope you get an A. But but it’s, the matter of sharing that information and, and adding to the wealth of knowledge that, you know your, your research question should be adding to that for everyone, not just for you and your faculty member, so that you can get an A. So think. You have to think beyond and think bigger than yourself as well.
